The Saudi labor authorities have arrested 19 expatriates for violating the rules of work and residence. Arrests were made during inspections carried out by the Riyadh Labor Office, local media report.
The illegal expats were found to be self-employed workers in the used furniture business. All those arrested have been handed over to concerned departments for deportation, the report said.
The inspection campaigns are targeted at ensuring businesses are in compliance with labor regulations, including a ban on outdoor work under the sun in summer and laws to employ Saudi nationals, it added.
There are 43 violations have been detected and 29 warnings issued during field inspections, the report said.
