Violations and Penalties for Employers

Employers who retain their employees’ passports face an SR 2,000 fine, while those who fail to provide a copy of the contract to employees face an SR 5,000 fine, according to the Ministry of Labor’s new regulations.

A fine of up to SR 15,000 will be imposed on an employer who forces his employees to perform tasks not specified in the contract or who requires employees to bear expenses for which the employer is responsible.

Companies will also face penalties if they fail to pay employees on time, force employees to work additional hours without compensating them for overtime, or force employees to work on official weekends and holidays.
