Violations and Penalties for Employers
Saudi authorities have revealed a list of violations and the applicable fines for employers in the kingdom. According to new rules from the Ministry of Labor, employers who keep their workers’ passports could be fined SAR 2,000. Those who don’t give their workers a copy of the contract could be fined SAR 5,000.
An employer can be fined up to SR 15,000 if he makes his employees do things that aren’t in the contract or if he makes his employees pay for things that are his responsibility.
Companies will also face penalties if they fail to pay employees on time, force employees to work additional hours without compensating them for overtime, or force employees to work on official weekends and holidays.
