7,000 Bangladeshis Deported From Ksa in 2 Months

More than 7,000 undocumented Bangladeshi workers have been deported from Saudi Arabia in the last two months, according to officials in Dhaka.

As per the officials, many of them were detained and sent back home as ‘premature’ within three to 10 months of their migration.

Wage Earners Welfare Board assistant director Tanvir Hossain, who is also in charge of the welfare desk at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, said that 3461 workers returned home in February and over 3600 workers returned home in January.

As of February 24, the BRAC migration program said it had provided emergency assistance to at least 6426 workers who had been deported from Saudi Arabia since the beginning of this year.

On February 24, they received at least 314 returnee workers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Since January 2018, Saudi Arabia has deported at least 69,494 Bangladeshi workers, according to the PMO office.
