The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has launched an initiative to deploy 60,000 free Wi-Fi hotspots in public places across the Kingdom. These locations includes hospitals, malls, public parks and the Two Holy Mosques.
Dr. Mohammad Al-Tamimi, governor of CITC said that, “This initiative comes within the commission’s keenness to spread communication and information technology services across the kingdom, which reflects the development of the ICT infrastructure in the Kingdom and contributes to achieving CITC’s strategic mission to enable the Kingdom’s transformation into a digital society.”
The new initiative will provide a large number of beneficiaries free access to the public WiFi networks for up to two hours a day in a number of Saudi cities.
This initiative comes in line with the Vision 2030 ambitions and the ICT Sector Strategy 2023 to enable KSA’s digital transformation.
