The Ministry of the Interior has reiterated its warning against large social gatherings. The Interior Ministry has warned the public of penalties against gatherings of more than 50 people as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus pandemic.
In an official tweet, the ministry said, “Gatherings for social purposes such as funerals, parties, and the like, for more than 50 people violate preventive measures against COVID-19.”
The punishment for a first-time violation is an SR 40,000 fine for an establishment or individual who instigated a violation. While anyone in attendance or causing crowding will be fined SR 5,000.
The penalty would be doubled to SR 80,000 in case of a second violation. Up to SR 10,000 will be fined to those attending or instigating the gathering.
For a third violation, the punishment will be doubled and will be referred to the public prosecution.
If a private sector establishment repeats the violation, it will be closed for three months. In the second incident, the establishment will be closed for six months.
The ministry urged people who witnessed any violations to call 911 from Riyadh and Makkah and call 999 from other regions.
