2023 Itikaf Registration for Makkah and Madinah Holy Mosques

As the holy month of Ramadan has already begun, Muslims all around the world are observing fasting, prayers, and engaging in various spiritual activities to purify their souls and strengthen their connection to Allah. One such significant practice during this time is Itikaf, where devoted Muslims seclude themselves in mosques for the last ten days of Ramadan to immerse in prayer and worship. This year, Saudi Arabia’s General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has opened registration for itikaf at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.

Nusuk Application for Registration:

The registration process for itikaf is available through the Nusuk application, a platform that provides a range of services related to religious affairs in Saudi Arabia. The Nuzuk app is available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play. The application period will be open until the permitted number of registrations is reached. Interested worshippers are encouraged to apply promptly to secure a spot for this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Registering on the Nuzuk App and Issuing an Itikaf Permit

To register for Nusuk Umrah app:

  1. Download app from App Store/Google Play Store.
  2. Select English & “New User”.
  3. Choose status: Citizen, Resident, Gulf or Visitor.
  4. Provide info such as mobile number, email, etc. & set password.
  5. Receive activation code via SMS/email & enter it to activate account.
  6. For visit visa holders, provide additional info & an OTP will be sent to email for activation.
  7. Register & start booking Itikaf appointment.

Preparations and Operational Plan:

The General Presidency has meticulously prepared the sites for itikaf at the Two Holy Mosques, with a plan to accommodate approximately 2,500 worshippers. This operational plan outlines the necessary arrangements and facilities to ensure a smooth and spiritually fulfilling experience for those participating in itikaf. From the moment of entry to their departure from the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, worshippers will be provided with all the essential services to support their devotion and worship during the final days of Ramadan.
