The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) in Saudi Arabia has denied reports that were circulated via social media about a move to convert family visit visas into residency visas (iqama).
The Jawazat confirmed through its official Twitter account that there is no directive issued in this regard.
“The standing instructions do not allow this, and in the event of new decisions or instructions being issued, they will be announced in a timely manner through our official channels,” the Jawazat said.
The Jawazat clarified this in response to a citizen’s question about the authenticity of a circulating report about the conversion of multiple-family visit visa to iqama for a certain amount of money.
