The Ministry of Transportation reveals that more than 18 million vehicle activities were recorded in some of the kingdom’s major cities including Jeddah, Makkah, Riyadh, Al-Madinah, Al-Qassim, and Al-Baha in August 2019, according to data captured by its traffic monitoring units.
The ministry said in a statement that the highest road traffic density was registered in Jeddah, with the movement of 5.2 million vehicles during the month or 167,000 vehicles every day with an average speed of 103 kph.
About five million vehicles, with an average speed of 118 kph, were recorded in Makkah, followed by 2.7 million vehicles with an average speed of 104 kph in Riyadh.

Dammam registered 1.5 million vehicles last month with an average speed of 101 kph, while Al-Madinah and Al-Qassim recorded 1.3 million vehicles each at an average speed of 80 kph.
Traffic monitoring units in Al-Baha recorded 1.1 million vehicles in August 2019, with an average speed of 75 kph, while the Northern Borders traffic monitoring units registered 444,000 vehicles at an average speed of 90 kph.
