Men and women in private sector must be paid equally: HR Ministry

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development said on Monday that gender discrimination in the salaries of employees of the private sector will no longer be allowed.

“It is forbidden for an employer in the private sector to discriminate between workers on the basis of gender, age, or disability with regard to working conditions while hiring them,” the ministry said.

The new decision will ensure that work prospects for Saudi women are more readily accessible, the ministry added.

Boosting female employment is a key pillar of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Vision 2030 plan for economic diversification.
