Interior Ministry announces phases of lifting partial curfew in Makkah

The Saudi Interior Ministry announced the procedure of lifting the partial curfew in Makkah, adding that the process will take place in two phases.

The first stage starts on Sunday, 31 May 2020 and includes:

  • Lifting the curfew partially from 6 am to 3 p.m.
  • Walking within the neighborhoods will continue to be permitted throughout the day.
  • Continuation of all activities excluded from previous decisions.
  • Entry and exit from the city of Makkah will be allowed.
  • Prayers and Friday prayers will be held in the Holy Mosque, in accordance with the procedures currently in place.
  • The application of precautionary measures in isolated neighborhoods will continue.

The second stage will begin on Sunday, June 21, 2020, and will include the following:

  • Partially lifting the curfew from 6am to 8pm.
  • Mosques will hold prayers amid precautionary and preventive measures.
  • Some economic and commercial activities will resume in addition to previously excluded activities including indoor orders in restaurants and cafes.
  • Social distancing procedures will continue in public places at all times, and gatherings for social purposes for more than 50 people will be prevented.
  • Walking within the neighborhoods will continue to be allowed throughout the day.
  • All activities that do not ensure physical distance will continue to be prohibited, including beauty salons, barber salons, sports and health clubs, recreational centers and other activities as determined by the competent authorities.
  • The application of precautionary measures in isolated neighborhoods will continue.
