MOI unveils details of entry and exit ban for Riyadh, Makkah and Madinah

On Wednesday evening, the Ministry of the Interior announced details of the security checkpoints assigned to prevent the entry and exit from the cities of Makkah, Madinah and Riyadh from Thursday.

In a press briefing, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Al-Shalhoub, said that in addition to the existing ones, several new security posts would be set up to ensure strict blocking of entry and exit from these cities as part of steps to enforce the order issued today by King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The new royal order bans people from entering or exiting the boundaries of Makkah, Medina and Riyadh. In a larger effort to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus

The following are security checkpoints,


  • North of Al-Qassim Road
  • Salboukh Sultana
  • Saad
  • Al-Qiddiya
  • Al-Kharj Road
  • Dirab Road

New security points are to be set up in Ramah and the Old Al-Kharj Road.


  • Makkah Hijrah Road
  • Yanbu Road, Al-Faraish
  • Tabuk Road, Al-Hofaira
  • Al-Qassim Highway Al-Har

Besides a temporary checkpoint on Old Qassim City Road


  • Shumaisi on Jeddah – Makkah Expressway
  • Shumaisi on old Makkah Road
  • Sabuha Al-Sail Center
  • Al-Kirr
  • Al-Kaakiya
  • Al-Nouriayah

Besides checkpoints on the branch roads leading to the Holy City

The curfew time in Makkah City will start at 3 p.m. on Thursday afternoon along with the cities of Madina and Riyadh. It will be from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. in all other cities and regions across the country.

King Salman’s new order bans people from all 13 regions of the Kingdom from leaving the province or moving to another region.
