New Public Bus Service in Riyadh, Jeddah From Today

A new public bus service starts operation in Riyadh and Jeddah from Today,  27/02/2018.

The new service, operated by a Saptco, replaces civil bus routes the Saudi Cabinet decided to halt on October 31 last year.

The initial fare is 3 SR between stops as part of the promotion

The drivers who were earlier driving the ubiquitous haflas (mini-buses) on the Khat Al-Balad (downtown route) have been asked to either work with the Saudi Public Transport Company (Saptco) on monthly salaries or obtain loans from the Social Development Bank to start their own business.

The Khat Al-Balad service was cancelled by the Council of Ministers earlier this year and was substituted by a modern public transport system.
