Saudi Arabia Allows Stores to Open 24 Hrs

The Saudi cabinet has approved allowing commercial businesses and shops to open for 24 hours to be determined by the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.

This decision, which entails providing Saudis with products and services around the clock, will lead to raising the quality of life in Saudi cities and enhancing their competitiveness, as well as empowering the business and economic sectors, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs said.

However, keeping businesses open round the clock will not be mandatory and it is up to businessmen to make this choice.

Shops will continue to close on prayer times.

Some businesses will be excluded from paying ministry fees based on their nature, it added.
