Authorities in Saudi Arabia have announced that Eid al-Fitr in the kingdom will begin on Sunday, May 24.

According to reports, Shawwal Moon was not sighted in Saudi Arabia on Friday evening, meaning Saturday will be the last day of Ramadan.

The sighting of the moon signals the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the start of the month of Shawwal.

Eid al-Fitr will be observed differently this year in the Kingdom, as the government imposed a 24-hour lockdown from 23-27 May to slow the spread of coronavirus.
