Saudi Arabia calls for sighting Shawwal Moon on Friday

The Supreme Court has called on all Muslims throughout Saudi Arabia to sight the crescent of the month of Shawwal on Friday evening, Ramadan 29, 1441H, corresponding to May 22, 2020.

The sighting of the moon marks the end of Ramadan and the advent of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

In its announcement, the Supreme Court called on whoever sights the crescent with naked eyes or through binoculars to report to the nearest court and register their testimony, or report to the regional authority center in the area where the crescent was sighted the crescent to facilitate his reaching the nearest court, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

If the moon is not spotted, then Saturday will mark a regular fasting day and Sunday will be Eid Al Fitr.
