Saudi Arabia Closes Malls Except Food Stores and Pharmacies

Saudi Arabia closes shopping malls

Saudi Arabia ordered the closure on Sunday of malls, restaurants, coffee shops, and public parks and gardens while exempting supermarkets and pharmacies.

The kingdom also banned serving food inside restaurants and cafes but allowed food delivery services.

Several local municipalities tweeted the directives, which state-owned Al Arabiya television said would apply across the country.

Saudi Arabia has suspended all public gatherings including weddings and announced the temporary closure of places designated for recreational and sports activities in and outside of shopping malls to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the Kingdom.
