Saudi Arabia has not approved Sinopharm or Sinovac’s COVID-19 vaccines, Ministry of Health spokesman Mohammed al-Abd al-Ali said on Sunday, denying online rumors.
However, citizens and residents who have received one of the Chinese-made vaccines can receive a booster shot with any approved vaccines.
Earlier this month, Saudi Arabia’s e-visa portal said that the country will only allow travelers inoculated with Sinopharm or Sinovac vaccines to enter if they receive a booster shot of one of the four vaccines approved in the Kingdom.
Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca-Oxford, and Johnson & Johnson are the four vaccines that are currently approved in the Kingdom.
The spokesperson urged people to register for the vaccine, saying that most of the newly confirmed cases are reported among unvaccinated individuals.
