Saudi Arabia’s 5G network coverage expanded to 53 governorates in the first quarter of 2021, up from 51 in Q4 2020, according to a report released by the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC).
In terms of 5G service coverage in the Kingdom, STC and Zain KSA ranked first and second, respectively. Both telcos serve 43 governorates, while Mobily serves 21 governorates. There are a total of 118 governorates in Saudi Arabia.Â
With an average download speed of 350.47 Mbps, Zain KSA was the fastest, followed by STC at 348.33 Mbps. Mobily placed third with an average download speed of 231.83 Mbps.
Zain KSA came in first place in terms of spreading 5G services across the Kingdom, except in Makkah, where Mobily outperformed Zain in Q1 2021.
