Saudi Arabia signs deal with China to conduct 9 million coronavirus tests

On Sunday, Saudi Arabia signed a deal with China to expand the Kingdom’s coronavirus testing capacity.

The new deal with China is worth 995 million Saudi Riyals ($264 million) to conduct a 9 million COVID-19 tests, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The arrangement includes six laboratories to be set up across the country and 500 Chinese staff to be recruited to train Saudi staff.

In addition to conducting comprehensive field and laboratory tests with the Saudi health teams, the Chinese health teams will ensure the quality of the tests for an 8 month period.

The kingdom has so far recorded 17,522 cases of infection and 139 deaths.
