Saudi Arabia to localize 11 professions in the Al-Baha region

The Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Eng. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi issued a decision on Monday to localize 11 professions in the Al-Baha region. The decision will take effect on January 14, 2022.

The decision included 100% localization of sales outlets including ready-made clothing, home furnishings, household utensils, carpets of all types, books and office tools, toys and bicycles, electrical appliances, plastic materials, soap and detergents, water and beverages, fruits, vegetables, dates, gifts, and handicrafts.

Cleaning, loading and unloading, and drivers are among the professions that are not included in the decision.

The decision also included 50% localization in cafes and 40% localization in restaurants.

This is a continuation of the efforts made to expand the Saudization programs in order to provide job opportunities for Saudi youths.

The ministry has issued a procedural guide outlining the decision and the mechanisms necessary to ensure the establishments’ commitment. The ministry will also offer incentives and support to private sector businesses that hire Saudis.
