Starting September 30, 2021, Saudi Arabia will use the IATA (International Air Transport Association) Travel Pass to confirm pre-departure COVID-19 test results for departing and arriving passengers.
IATA welcomed the General Authority of Civil Aviation’s (GACA) decision to accept the IATA Travel Pass to confirm pre-departure COVID-19 test results for departing and arriving passengers starting 30 Sept 2021. This acceptance will eventually be extended to vaccine certification.
Travelers to and from Saudi Arabia will have the choice of using either the IATA Travel Pass or the Tawakkalna application.
Travel Pass is a secure digital wallet that enables travelers to understand travel requirements and present their verified travel health credentials (vaccine or test certificates) in order to comply with COVID-19 entry restrictions.
More than 80 airlines have announced trials of the IATA Travel Pass, and the app has been approved for use by several governments, including Singapore and Panama. Also Read: Saudi Arabia extends validity of iqamas and visas of expats stranded abroad till Sept 30
