Saudi Arabia’s unemployment rate increases to 15.4% in Q2 of 2020

The unemployment rate among Saudi citizens increased to 15.4% in the second quarter of 2020, compared to 11.8% in first quarter of 2020, according to data published by the General Authority for Statistics.

Moreover, the unemployment rate among males and females stood at 8.1% and 31.4%, respectively in the same period.

The unemployment rate among all residents (15 years and above) had increased to 9% from 5.7% in the second quarter of 2020.

The report says the 63.1% of unemployed citizens belong to the age group of 20-29 years. 71.1% of males and 94% of unemployed females have never worked before.
