The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) announced the lifting of travel restrictions for citizens who married foreigners.
The order allows female citizens married to foreigners to travel with their husbands or join their husbands who are outside the kingdom after submitting proof of marriage to officials at the departure points directly.
It also allows travel for male citizens who married foreign women who reside outside the Kingdom due to work or other conditions that do not enable them to come to the Kingdom to join their husbands.
The Jawazat clarified that if a citizen is unable to submit documents that prove his wife is outside the Kingdom and her inability to come to the Kingdom, he can apply for a travel permit through the “Absher” electronic platform by attaching all the required documents, to facilitate the procedures for obtaining a travel permit.
Saudi Arabia last January extended the date of lifting the temporary travel ban to May 17.
