A truck with donkeys was seized in southern Jeddah because the destination or purpose of the consignment was not declared. It is suspected that the animals are either to be slaughtered for restaurants or to be used at farms.
The security men of the checkpoint, where the truck was detained, sought the help of the Umm Al-Salam municipality to deal with donkeys sent from the southern part of the Kingdom, Al-Madinah daily reported.
The spokesman for Jeddah Municipality Ghassan Al-Zaharani said a number of donkeys shipped from Jazan entered the governorate from Al-Lith. The animals were discovered at a checkpoint south of Jeddah. The municipality sent the animals to a zoo at the request of the check post officers, Al-Zaharani said.
