Air India Express Increases Free Baggage Allowance for Middle East Flights

Air India Express has announced a major increase in free check-in baggage allowances for its international flights to the Middle East and Singapore. Passengers can now check in up to 30 kg of baggage, along with 7 kg of cabin baggage. Families traveling with infants will receive an additional 10 kg allowance, bringing their total baggage limit to 47 kg.

The airline operates around 450 weekly flights connecting 19 cities in India to 13 destinations in the Middle East. It also runs 26 weekly flights between Singapore and three South Indian cities—Chennai, Madurai, and Tiruchirappalli. For business class passengers, known as Xpress Biz, the baggage allowance has been increased to 40 kg, along with added perks like priority check-in, recliner seats, and complimentary hot meals.

Air India Express has also introduced options for budget-conscious travelers through its Xpress Lite fares. These fares are lower and include 3 kg of cabin baggage. Passengers who later need check-in baggage can pre-book additional allowances at discounted rates—15 kg for domestic flights and 20 kg for international flights.

Additional services include the new Xtra Carry-On option, allowing passengers to increase cabin baggage by 3–5 kg. Musical instruments can also be carried as cabin baggage at no extra cost if they meet size requirements, or as checked baggage for larger items. The airline, which now operates over 400 daily flights, has expanded its network to over 50 destinations, including new routes to Bangkok, Phuket, and key cities in the Middle East.
