Riyadh Season to Host Mass Wedding Ceremony for 300 Couples

The much-anticipated Riyadh Season, Saudi Arabia’s grand annual entertainment festival, is set to host a remarkable event this year: a mass wedding for 300 couples. The announcement was made by Turki Al Alsheikh, the head of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), who emphasized the festival’s commitment to social responsibility.

In a statement, Al Alsheikh highlighted the festival’s support for young Saudis looking to start their married life. “As part of Riyadh Season’s social responsibility toward young men and women in the kingdom, we have decided to organize a mass wedding for 300 grooms and brides, totaling 600 participants,” he shared. This generous initiative is designed to provide a memorable start for these couples, featuring not only the wedding ceremony but also a large-scale concert and a gala dinner for attendees.

Al Alsheikh further called on local businesses and companies to contribute to this charitable event, expressing his hope to make such celebrations a regular feature of the Riyadh Season in the future. Also read: Is Saudi Arabia Really Heading for a Harsh Winter? Meteorology Center Clarifies

The fifth edition of Riyadh Season, which kicks off on October 12, 2024, promises to deliver an unforgettable experience with 14 themed zones, 11 world championships, and 10 exhibitions. One of the most talked-about additions to this year’s festival is the opening of the Boulevard Runway, a unique zone developed in collaboration with Saudi Airlines.

This new area will feature retired aircraft transformed into dining and entertainment venues, capturing the imagination of visitors from across the globe. Among the attractions are three Boeing 777 planes, which were transported from Jeddah to Riyadh by road. The logistical feat of moving these massive jets captured worldwide attention on social media, with people amazed by the sight of the aircraft being moved along the highways.

The Boulevard Runway, with a capacity of up to 9,000 visitors, will allow guests to explore the interiors of the aircraft and enjoy a wide range of entertainment options, including shopping and dining, all while experiencing the feel of a real airport runway. The zone will officially open to the public on December 15, 2024.

Since its inception in 2019, Riyadh Season has been part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to diversify its economy and position the capital as a global entertainment hub. The festival, which includes concerts, shows, and cultural events, has rapidly become a significant attraction, drawing millions of visitors each year.
