Hajj Leave in Saudi Arabia: HRSD Clarifies Rules for Private Sector Employees

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) has published guidelines detailing the conditions under which employees in the Kingdom are entitled to paid leave to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.

According to HRSD, an employee is entitled to a paid leave of between 10 and 15 days to perform Hajj, inclusive of the Eid Al-Adha holiday.

The ministry stated that this leave is granted once during the full period of an employee’s service, provided the employee has not previously performed Hajj.

HRSD further noted that eligibility requires the employee to have completed a minimum of two consecutive years of service with the same employer.

The ministry also clarified that employers retain the right to determine the number of employees granted this leave on an annual basis, in accordance with operational requirements.
