The Saudi Organization for Chartered and Professional Accountants (SOCPA) has referred a former certified public accountant and two commercial establishments to the Public Prosecution for allegedly providing accounting and auditing services without valid professional licenses.
According to SOCPA, the former accountant continued to issue an audit report on financial statements even after his professional license had been revoked.
The organization said practicing the profession after losing authorization constitutes a criminal offense under Saudi law.
SOCPA also found that two commercial establishments had been advertising accounting and auditing services through their websites and social media platforms without obtaining the required professional licenses.
The organization said these actions violate Article 10 of the Accounting and Auditing Profession Law, which prohibits individuals or businesses from misleading the public by claiming the right to practice the profession without a valid license, or while holding a revoked or suspended license.
SOCPA stressed that accounting and auditing services may only be provided or advertised after obtaining the necessary legal authorization.
The organization urged practitioners and businesses to comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and professional requirements governing the sector.
It also advised the public to verify the licensing status of accountants and auditors through the lists published on SOCPA’s official website and to report any unauthorized practices or misleading advertisements through its official reporting channels.
