Fines for Expired Driving Licenses: What You Need to Know in Saudi Arabia
The Saudi Traffic Department has recently explained the rules for fines on expired driving licenses. Drivers have a 60-day grace period after their license expires to renew it without any penalties.
If the license is not renewed within 60 days, a fine of SAR 100 is charged for the first year. Even if you renew your license on the 61st day, you will still need to pay this fine. For every year after that, an extra SAR 100 is added.
Renewing a license costs SAR 40 per year. Drivers can choose to renew their licenses for 2, 5, or 10 years, depending on their needs.
Driving without a valid license is considered a violation. The fine for this is SAR 300 for the first time and SAR 500 for repeated offenses. These fines are separate from the late renewal penalties.
The Traffic Department urges drivers to renew their licenses on time to avoid fines.
