Saudi Shura Council Recommends Health Certificates for Delivery Riders

The Saudi Shura Council recently discussed several recommendations aimed at improving healthcare services and public safety, including a proposal that could affect delivery workers across the Kingdom.

One of the key recommendations calls on the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing to introduce a mechanism requiring delivery workers to obtain health certificates before starting work. The proposal is intended to strengthen public health standards in the delivery sector.

The Council also recommended that the Ministry of Health prepare a clear timeline to complete delayed healthcare projects and encourage greater private and non-profit investment in specialized healthcare facilities across Saudi Arabia.

Another recommendation urges the Ministry of Health to increase Saudization in the pharmacy profession and address challenges that limit the employment of Saudi pharmacists in the private sector.

Council members also called for the full implementation of a unified electronic health record across the Kingdom to improve continuity of patient care and reduce repeated medical tests between healthcare facilities.

Additional proposals include expanding early cancer screening for high-risk groups, improving diabetes treatment and awareness programs, and enhancing healthcare services for elderly people and persons with disabilities.

The recommendations were discussed during the review of the Ministry of Health’s annual report. The Shura Council’s Health Committee requested more time to study members’ proposals before presenting its final recommendations at a future session.
