The Saudi General Directorate of Traffic (Muroor) has clarified the situations in which drivers are allowed to move their vehicles from the scene of a traffic accident before the competent authority arrives.
The guidance aims to improve road safety and reduce traffic congestion while ensuring that accident procedures are followed correctly.
According to Muroor, drivers may move their vehicles if they receive instructions from the competent authority.
The authority also said vehicles can be moved if the accident is minor and one of the parties has photographed the vehicles at the accident scene before moving them. Taking clear photos helps document the accident for later procedures.
Muroor further explained that vehicles may also be moved if the accident location poses a risk to public safety or is obstructing traffic. In such cases, clearing the road can help prevent further accidents and reduce congestion.
Motorists are advised to document the accident carefully whenever required and follow the instructions of the relevant authorities to ensure the incident is handled properly.
