The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD) confirmed in a tweet that the new employer bears the fees of Iqama (residence permit) and work permit.

The clarification came in response to an inquiry by an individual asking: “My residence permit has been expired for four years due to the sponsor refusing to renew it. If the job is transferred, will the new sponsor bear the fees of the previous years?”

HRSD’s official customer care account responded via Twitter by saying: “The new employer shall bear the Iqama fee, work permit fee, its renewal, and the fine resulting from delays.
