The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) has clarified the rules for issuing final exit visas to expatriates in Saudi Arabia. A minimum of 30 days of validity on the residency permit (Iqama) is required to apply for a final exit visa.
Jawazat advised employers and heads of families to renew the Iqama if it has less than 30 days of validity before requesting a final exit visa. If the Iqama is valid for more than 30 days but less than 60 days, the final exit visa will match the remaining validity of the Iqama. If the Iqama is valid for 60 days or more, the visa will be issued for 60 days.
Both employers and heads of families can issue final exit visas for workers and dependents through the Ministry of Interior’s electronic platforms, such as “Absher,” “Absher Business,” and the Muqeem portal. The service is free and does not require any payment.
The Jawazat also clarified that the employer or head of family can cancel the final exit visa electronically during its validity period.
Additionally, Jawazat recently announced that expatriates’ dependents and domestic workers who are outside Saudi Arabia can now renew their residency permits (Iqama) through the online platforms Absher and Muqeem. Residents outside the Kingdom can also extend the validity of single or multiple exit and re-entry visas via these platforms.
