How Many Cars Can Expats Legally Own in Saudi Arabia? Muroor Explains
In a recent social media post, the Saudi General Department of Traffic (Muroor) answered a question about how many cars expatriates can own in Saudi Arabia. A user on X asked if he could buy and register a vehicle in his name while also having another car financed through a bank under a different name. He wanted to know if he could legally drive both cars.
Muroor confirmed that expatriates in Saudi Arabia are allowed to own personal vehicles, but they can have no more than two. This rule ensures that expatriates can own vehicles easily while staying within the legal limit of two, making the process clear and manageable for foreign residents in Saudi Arabia.
The traffic department also shared important safety tips for drivers on their social media. They warned about the dangers of tire problems while driving, which can lead to losing control of the vehicle, not being able to stop quickly, and increased chances of accidents. Drivers are encouraged to check their tires regularly to prevent these issues. Read: How to Transfer Vehicle Ownership in Saudi Arabia
Additionally, Muroor addressed unsafe behaviors during traffic jams. They cautioned against using car horns excessively, changing lanes carelessly, driving on the road shoulders, and not keeping a safe distance from other vehicles. These actions can lead to accidents and traffic disruptions. Also read: Driving in Saudi: Foreign Driving License Rules in Saudi Arabia
