Penalties for non-renewal of Iqama

The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) clarified the penalties for failing to renew a residence permit on time. According to Jawazat, the following penalties apply for non-renewal of iqama within three days of its expiration date;

Penalty for the first time

Employers who failed to renew Iqama for the first time will be fined SR 500.

Penalty for the second Time

If the delay occurs for the second time, the fine will be increased to SR 1,000.

Penalty for the third time

In the event of a third time, an expat resident could face deportation as well as fines.
