Saudi Arabia bans entry of foreign vehicles that have exceeded their lifespan

Saudi Arabia’s Public Transport Authority (PTA) has announced that it has begun prohibiting foreign vehicles that have exceeded their approved operational life from entering the Kingdom via its land ports.

Vehicles that do not confirm operational life requirements will be denied entry into the Kingdom, with the goal of increasing road safety, according to the PTA.

According to the Public Transport Authority, the following life expectancy requirements will apply to foreign vehicles entering the Kingdom via land ports:

Taxis – 5 years
Buses – 10 years
Trucks – 20 years

The vehicle’s operational life will be calculated from the start of the year of manufacture.
