Saudi Arabia to Launch Penalty Point System for Traffic Violations
Following approval from the Ministry of Interior, Saudi Arabia will launch a new penalty point system for traffic violations, local media reported.
The new rule will take effect within 6 months.
According to new rule, drivers will be banned if a total of 90 points is registered against the driver within three years of their first offense.
Special courts will handle cases resulting from traffic violations and appeal to rule out court decisions.
There will be particular points for each violation depending on severity. Points will be placed on the driver’s record and the license revoked if 90 points are accumulated within three years of the first violation.
