Saudi Arabia Announces 50% Discount on Traffic Fines
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has announced a 50% reduction in the payment of accumulated traffic fines incurred before April 18, 2024. This reduction follows the directives of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), aims to encourage violators to settle their fines within six months from the start of the initiative until October 18, 2024. Violators have the option to pay all fines in one lump sum or settle each fine individually, without engaging in any safety-related offenses.
All violators, including citizens, residents, and visitors, are eligible for the reduction. It’s applied automatically and doesn’t require any request submissions. Additionally, payments can be made conveniently through the SADAD system.
For violations that occur after the implementation of this reduction, Article 75 of the Traffic Law will be applied. This article offers a 25% reduction for a single violation but may lead to potential imprisonment and enforcement actions if fines are not paid within the specified period after the objection period and the legally prescribed payment deadline have lapsed.
The Ministry emphasized the importance of all road users adhering to traffic regulations to uphold public safety and prevent the occurrence of violations.
