Expat Dependent Fee: How to Check and Pay

For expatriates living in Saudi Arabia, bringing your family along can be a wonderful experience, but it does come with some responsibilities. One of the essential requirements is paying a dependent fee, often referred to as a dependent levy, for each family member under your sponsorship. This includes your spouse, children, and even parents. Before you can renew your Iqama (residency permit) or that of your family members, you must ensure that the dependent fee is paid in full. This article will help you understand how to calculate and pay this fee easily.

How to Calculate Expat Dependent Fee

Calculating the dependent fee is straightforward. As of now, the fee is set at SAR 400 per month for each dependent. Here’s a simple example to illustrate: if you have two dependents, your annual dependent fee would be:

(400 SAR x 12 months) x 2 dependents = 9,600 SAR

This fee needs to be paid in advance before renewing the Iqama of any family member. Knowing how much you need to pay can help you plan your finances better and avoid any last-minute surprises.

In summary, paying the dependent fee or family levy is compulsory for all family members under the sponsorship of a resident expatriate in Saudi Arabia. The fee is calculated based on the number of dependents and the payment duration. Various methods, including ATMs and online banking, are available to check and pay the dependent levy, ensuring the renewal of your Iqama.
