Everything You Need to Know About Fahas: Vehicle Periodic Inspection in Saudi Arabia
Vehicle Periodic Inspection (Fahas) is an essential requirement for maintaining the safety and roadworthiness of vehicles in Saudi Arabia. This guide provides an easy-to-understand overview of the key aspects of the Fahas process.
When is Vehicle Inspection Required?
- Private Vehicles: New private vehicles must undergo their first inspection three years after obtaining their initial vehicle license, followed by annual inspections.
- Taxis, Buses, and Public Transport: These vehicles require inspection two years after their first license, then annually thereafter.
- Optional Inspections: You can inspect your vehicle anytime at any authorized center for additional assurance.
Required Documents for Vehicle Inspection
To complete the Fahas process, ensure you bring:
- Appointment Confirmation: Proof of your booked appointment.
- Identity Card: This can be the ID of the vehicle owner, a first-degree relative, or an authorized driver.
- Vehicle Registration: The original traffic printout, the Customs card (for imported vehicles), or a valid registration document.
When Should You Inspect Your Vehicle?
- Periodically: Before the current inspection’s validity expires.
- Vehicle Ownership Transfer: If there’s no valid technical inspection for the vehicle.
- Foreign Vehicles: Within 15 days of entering Saudi Arabia if no valid inspection exists from outside the Kingdom.
Steps for Completing a Technical Inspection
- Book an Appointment: Schedule and manage your inspection appointment online via the PTI platform or the Vehicles Safety app (Download Here).
- Inspect Your Vehicle: Visit the inspection center at your booked time, and your vehicle will undergo a thorough examination.
- Receive Results: You’ll get the result via SMS. If your vehicle passes, an inspection sticker will be placed on the windshield. If it fails, you can re-inspect the vehicle twice within 14 working days.
Inspection Fees for Private Vehicles
- First Inspection: 115.00 SAR
- Re-Inspection: 37.95 SAR
Re-Examination Guidelines
If your vehicle fails the initial inspection:
- You have two chances for re-examination within 14 working days.
- The re-inspection can be conducted at any authorized center.
- The periodic technical inspection remains valid for one year after passing.
How to Check Fahas Validity
You can check the validity of your Fahas through the PTI platform. Enter your vehicle’s Chassis Number and Sequence Number, which can be found on your Istimara card.
By following these simple steps and guidelines, you can ensure your vehicle complies with Saudi Arabia’s safety regulations and stays roadworthy throughout the year.
