The Saudi Arabian passport department, Jawazat, has announced that visitors arriving in the country on a visit visa can now use a digital Visitor ID as an official form of identification. This move aims to streamline identification processes for visitors and enhance the convenience of travel within the Kingdom.
According to Jawazat, the digital Visitor ID, accessible through the Absher platform, will be accepted as an official document for identification purposes. Visitors can present this digital ID at various checkpoints and during travel within Saudi Arabia without the need for physical documentation.
This announcement clarifies that showing the digital Visitor ID to officials when requested will be sufficient and recognized as legitimate proof of identity.
The clarification came as a response to public inquiries regarding the acceptance of digital identities as valid identification within the country.
